PILATES

Pilates encompasses a wide range of exercises aimed at general strengthening, flexibility, and overall balance. There is a strong focus on core strengthening which assists with recurring neck and lower back pain.

At RPPR we use a series of specialized Pilates equipment, allowing us to prescribe low impact, safe, and technique-driven exercises.

Some of our Clinical Pilates Instructors are also qualified Physiotherapists. This ensures safety and goal-oriented exercise prescription.

Pilates is suitable for men and women of all age groups and levels of fitness. It is ideal for injury prevention, but also suits those who want to stay fit, lose weight and tone up.

NEOTONUS CHAIR THERAPY

Neotonus Magnetic chair therapy offers you a unique non-invasive pelvic floor exercise. It generates neuronal pulses that exercise all the pelvic floor muscles to get their strength back. It is a pain free treatment based on a revolutionary technology called Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation ( ExMI) pelvic therapy system. A highly focused magnetic field is produced by the Neocontrol device that stimulates the pelvic nerves to produce highly effective pelvic muscle contractions.

The patient is fully dressed in a very comfortable chair. The patient can read a book or magazines or listen to music during the treatment.

Remedial massage is basically a form of massage that is working to remedy or fix a problem in your body. This may be an acute injury that has just occurred, a long lasting chronic problem that is always there or also problems that may come up from time to time like headaches or muscle aches.

Remedial massage utilises techniques such as deep tissue, trigger point, Myofascial release, active release techniques, PNF stretching, Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) and many more.

Remedial massage is the most useful and safest form of treatment for conditions such as : joint sprains, muscle strains or pulls, tight muscles, aching muscles, limited movement, headaches, jaw pain, back pain including disc injuries, neck pain, shoulder injuries and many more.

METABOLIC TESTING

What is Metabolism?

Metabolism is all of the chemical reactions and physiological processes that keep us alive. All of these processes require energy which is produced by burning, or oxidising, fuels that we eat, which are carbohydrates, fat and protein. Like when burning any fuel, oxygen is consumed and carbon dioxide is produced. By measuring the amount of oxygen breathed in and carbon dioxide expired (gas exchange) we can calculate the amount of energy your body is using, and also the type of fuel that is running it.

Resting Metabolic Rate

We look at your metabolism in two different states: resting and exercising. Your resting metabolic rate (RMR) represents 60-75% of your total daily energy expenditure. When measuring metabolic rate in a fasted state, e.g. before breakfast, your body will either be burning fat or carbohydrate, in the form of glucose. Ideally, the majority of your energy at rest would be produced by burning fat, reserving your carbohydrate stores for when your energy demands are higher. Unfortunately, factors such as diet, lifestyle and genetics can impact your ability to burn fat and make it difficult to maintain a healthy weight.
