A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
Get on board: in 2024 more Australians than ever are seeking Physiotherapy for their aches and pains. GPs are our number 1 referrers, and we’re working to make Australia a happier and healthier place with rehab guidance.
Physiotherapists are First Contact Practitioners: this means you don’t need a Dr referral to see us. We’ve had at least 5 years of university training to equip us with the knowledge to correctly diagnose your injury/condition, and identify anything more serious that would need referral to a specialist/GP.
University trained: we’ve had at least 5 years of university training to become qualified, and years of ‘on the job’ experience. As health specialists, we have a deep understanding of human anatomy, and injuries which may be holding you back from participating in the things you enjoy.
Your health is a great investment: for instance, lower back pain costs Australians around $1b per year directly. It costs Australia’s economy $8b per year in lost productivity. And that’s just one of the many injuries and conditions Physiotherapists treat.
Getting the best from your Physio experience: your Physio will combine the benefits of hands-on treatment with exercise prescription i.e. homework, to get the best outcome. We will work with you to achieve your goals, see it as a partnership rather than a one-way relationship.
Tell your friends and family: your Physiotherapist at RPPR loves their job, and they’re always looking to help new people. Our mission is to make the Gold Coast healthier and more active.
CANCELLATION POLICY
As our Physiotherapists are very popular, we implement a cancellation policy whereby more than 24hrs notice is needed to avoid a cancellation fee. This allows us to offer your spot to another client on the waiting list for that day.
At Robina Physio, Pilates, and Rehab we consider your health a priority and hope that you do the same. Keeping appointments is necessary to achieving your goals.
We look forward to working with you closely.
INFORMED CONSENT FORM
Physiotherapy treatment is generally an effective and safe form of treatment however, like any treatment there are risks. The purpose of this form is to let you know what your rights are and how we address the issue of collaborative decision making and informed consent between physiotherapist and patient.
Physiotherapists in this practice will discuss your condition and options for treatment with you so that you are appropriately informed and can make decisions relating to treatment. You may choose to consent to or refuse any form of treatment for any reason including religious or personal grounds. Once you have given consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
Please read and sign the following:
Questions of a personal nature:
Your physiotherapist may ask personal questions relating to your injury and how your injury impacts on your ‘activities of daily living’. The more information you provide, the more likely it is that the physiotherapist can provide an effective treatment. It is your choice as to what information you choose to provide. If you feel uncomfortable with a particular question or group of questions, please let the physiotherapist know and they will cease.
Physical Contact: During the examination, assessment, and treatment it will be necessary for your physiotherapist to make physical contact. Wherever possible, contact will be made using a towel or other forms of screening. For a detailed assessment to occur the physiotherapist may require exposure of the body area being examined e.g. upper back, buttock. These aspects of examination require your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time at which point, physical assessment will cease immediately. Please inform your physiotherapist if you feel uncomfortable at any point.
Risks related to treatment: As with all forms of treatment, there are risks and benefits. The physiotherapist will discuss any foreseeable risks with you prior to administering treatment. If you have any questions regarding these risks do not hesitate to ask. You may withdraw your consent at any time. It must also be understood that discomfort may occur following treatment.
I understand that it is my responsibility to contact a therapist in the clinic should I experience any unusual symptoms e.g. shortness of breath, significant swelling, sudden cough. In the case that the therapist is uncontactable, please go to the hospital.
The risk related to some treatments can increase if the physiotherapist is not aware of certain facts. Please take time to fill in the patient history form on the next page.
I have read and understood the above statements relating to consent for treatment with RPPR. I offer my consent to receive treatment and examination within the practice. I agree to this consent remaining valid until such time as I withdraw my consent.
